Day 86
Spent the day at Rocky Mountain National Park with Mark and Derron today with a partly cloudy day and just a little breeze. We start the day at Moraine Park and Mark is of coarse the first to land a fish. After Mark has landed a number of fish we all switch to what Mark is throwing. After tying on a purple san juan worm I finally catch a little 9" brown. What had a been a long frustrating start to the day finally turned around and I caught two more fish before we decide to try a different area. We leave Moraine Park with three fish for myself and seven for Mark while Derron was having a tough day and still had not caught a fish.
Moving upstream of Moraine Park we try to fish the area up from the Fern Lake trail. With the water moving as fast as it was finding a calm bit of water was a challenge. I find a little pool on the side and cast a number of times before I finally mishook a tiny 5" brown. Mark moves upstream of me and finds a couple of big boulders to fish around and catches another three for the day. Derron meanwhile was upstream of Mark and found a little side creek and caught two fish for the day.
The rain and lightning moved in on us so we decided to call it a day around 6:00pm with all but Mark having a pretty tough go of it. Still was nice to be in R.M.N.P. for the day and we did end up seeing a lot of elk and a few deer.
