Elk Creek
So I read a couple articles about Elk Creek saying it was an exception to the rule of small creek , small fish. We had been told you can catch 16" fish in the creek and that the fishing up to the meadows would be pocket water fishing.
We start just up from the Elk Creek campground and fish our way upstream. It's only two miles up to the meadows so we figure we can fish our way up to it. We have a beautiful sunny day to fish and Mark and Derron are upstream of me for most of it. That being said I have a tougher day of fishing than I would have liked. Third through a spot left the fish very spooky and hard to fool.
We all catch fish but we never make it to the meadows. We had heard you can fish your way up but the bushwacking is crazy bad and we decided to call it quits after hiking and fishing upstream for six hours with still no sign of the meadows. Either walk the trail to the meadows or just fish the lower section of Elk Creek by the parking lot.
