East Inlet Creek

With runoff in full swing we try RMNP to see if the creeks up high were any better.  Our first stop is the upper Colorado River but it was flowing to fast and we decided to take a look at East Inlet Creek.  We do the hike to the second meadow before we start fishing.  The water running high, just barely staying in the banks but is crystal clear.  I of coarse have a Amy's Ant on and start casting near the edges, when Boom!  I have a little brookie kill it and I have my first fish.  I pick off two more while Mark pulls in a couple before we head back down to the first meadow.  We fish some ponds that overflow from runoff and manage to get a few fish each before calling it and heading out.  Still a little early to fish the creeks in runoff.  Mark heads back to Denver and I stay another night to take some pictures from Trail Ridge Rd.

  1. Kevin - have you fished the east side of RMNP recently? I'm curious how the Big Thompson and Glacier Creek look. I will be in Estes Park in a couple of weeks.

    1. I have not, but I just went back to the west side and all the creeks are fishable. In two weeks everything should be in prime fishing conditions. Good luck!
