Down to the Arkansas River
Headed down to the Arkansas River for the day with Mark and Dan to see if we could catch a few fish. We started around Texas creek and worked our way a little farther upstream over the coarse of the day. We get to the creek and the temperature is good but the wind is kicking up more than we thought it would.
We start the day at Texas creek and split up to give each other some room to fish. While I am trying to tell Dan what sections of river to fish, Mark has landed his first fish of the day and hooked another one before we even get a cast out. I leave Dan to fish and head downstream to find a spot of my own. I fish around a little island and end up catching a little brown on the top side of the island for my first fish. I make my way back upstream and meet up with Dan and Mark to see how their doing. Mark has caught two while Dan has not had any luck and is taking a little break. After a couple hours of fishing we decide to try another area upstream to see if the fishing was any better.
We find another pullout and head down to the creek, splitting up to give each other some room to fish. I manage to land a little brown on a Wooly Bugger while Mark pulls in another four over the coarse of the next couple hours and Dan remains skunked. With the wind picking up and the weather rolling in we decide to call it an early day and head back to the car.
Great day out fishing with Mark and Dan down on the Arkansas River in the canyons, even though the fishing was not as good as we thought it might be. Was awesome to catch a fish on a streamer for only the second time!
