Boulder Creek with a new friend
Headed out to Boulder Creek to meet a new friend who was buying some prints from me. We met in town and then headed up canyon to try our luck. We stop at a spot I have tried before and I can't even get my rod set up before Max has caught a couple fish nymphing. I tie on an Amy's Ant and cast over to a small section of slack water. First two casts I get bites but pull the fly loose both times. We end up moving upstream to a couple more spots after Max catches another.
The second spot does not give up any fish to either of us and we quickly move again. Third spot ends up being just like the first, with Max catching fish and me getting fish to bite but can't set the hook. We fish this spot for a little bit before picking up and heading downstream to find a spot Max likes. Unfortunately his spot was taken and we decide to call it a day.
Great to meet Max and still had a good day on the water without catching anything.
Rod: Iwana 12' 6/4
Line: Furled 12'
Fly that worked: Amy's Ant

Do I see a reel in one of the pics? Shameful........Just kidding. Love your sight. Lets me know what I should be tying on when I first start fishing after each of your posts. Your photos are top rate. Keep up the good work!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliments! Everyone I fish with still uses traditional rod and reel setup despite my best efforts to get them to fish with a Tenkara rod.
